]. The disease can become quite painful and debilitating, resulting in chronically draining wounds and sinus tracts. Although the precise etiology remains unclear, evidence suggests that the primary process involves occlusion of either the apocrine or follicular ducts, followed by secondary infection of the apocrine system, with extension into the surrounding subcutaneous tissues as sinus tracts. Medical management may temporize the symptoms of this disease, but most patients with chronic wounds will require some form of surgical therapy, ranging from simple incision and drainage, unroofing of sinus tracts and local excision, to wide excision with grafting or advancement flap coverage [
